88888 Lights Out

What is 88888 Lights Out ? 88888 Lights Out is a campaign aimed at increasing the awareness about Global warming and promoting actionable ideas to cool the globe. This initiative is spearheaded by ExNoRa International, which is a well known Non Governmental Organization in India. ExNoRa's 88888 Lights Out campaign called for people to switch off their lights for 8 Minutes on 8-8-8 at 8 PM to spread awareness and start activities that cool the globe. The campaign's aim was to both create awareness about global warming, and provide tips to arrest the effects of it. 88888 Lights Out is a repeat of other successful campaigns conducted in Sydney, France & San Francisco. The call to action to individuals were > Learn more about the causes and effects of Global warming > Begin making changes at individual level to help mitigate the effects of global warming > Express support and acknowledgement of this serious issue, turn lights off for 8 minutes @ 8PM on Aug 8th 2008. Why 88888 Lights Out ? 1. To foster a feeling of Togetherness 2. To create more awareness about Global Warming 3. To drive individual and corporate responsibility 4. To encourage people in becoming part of the solution

ONTO SOMETHING NEW.......

The journey of our life on this planet puts us to the responsibility of keeping the planet safe for our future. While we spend time to care about ourselves,we should take care of even our ecosystem.Apart from global warming, which i have took up all these days i think i should make something more.so from my next post i would like to share amongst all my fellow planet sharers all the ill effects of human's mistakes on the fellow creations like nature wild life etc. they are all cyclic where one deals with the other and i would like to hold it uniquely and distinctively.hope to get through the thoughts of some readers who visit the blog occasionally or often but im sure as a whole group we can bring in some good change though it may not be globalised but localised at least.

THINGS THAT WE CAN DO!

Hello all , in this post of mine i thought of listing out some small things that we can do to stop global warming and pollution turning up to greenhouse effect which cycles up to global warming again.its a serious matter and lets all take up a pledge to do these. 1)stop using airconditioner for hours

2)switch off all electric appliance when not in use

3)have a walk to short distances

4)buy emission free vehicles

5)if ur vehicle is one among the smoke producers of the earth plz mend it as soon as possible

6)stop throwing plastics down.its better if we stop using plastic bags

7)conserve fuel.it gives us double benefit

8)have some plants and trees near ur house.i swear u will feel heaven on earth.

9)encourage people near u to take up somethings like this to stop global warming.

10)if u are in a community who can cooperate very well plz do join together and work on it like planting trees in ur community, having an energy saving hour everyday, sticking some posters on it.

these are all somethings that i was able to think of.plz do tell me if u know something more than this.coz it is a problem that should be discussed in groups so plz give it out .u may have some points that i didn't know.lets all work together on this issue which can and should be carried out globally.hope we get a positive result!!

DREADFUL EFFECT

A report released by the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado has revealed that the Arctic ice is at its second-lowest level in history, and is melting because of the impact of global warming. The National Snow and Ice Data Center put out the report late last week, confirming that the Arctic sea ice is melting away. It is at its second-lowest point in recorded history. The lowest-point in recorded history was in 2007. The report stated that “We could very well be in that quick slide downward in terms of passing a tipping point.” That tipping point has to do with global warming, and is causing major problems for the Arctic sea ice, and endangered species such as the polar bear. The level of Artic sea ice in 2008 is at 2.03 million square miles, compared to 1.59 million square miles in 2007.

back again with a broad smile :)

hi all, till date i didnt know if someone cared of my blog.so i was not cared about posting something.well now that i am sure it can reach atleast few i am all for it.most of us know wat is global warming and that is all.we should think its gonna affect us and take some actions to make our earth good back again.coz its we who made the problem and it should be only us who are gonna rectify for wat we did.hence lets all do something just a simple thing for instance switch of lights and other electric appliance when they are not in much need, walking to a certain distance instead of using any smoke releasing fuel using vehicle etc.to just get a satisfaction atleast that we arent harming our mother earth. well speaking about non fuel using vehicles now e bykes and e cars have come and im on to buy one ebyke i think just to show others its usage and make them clear its as simple as the petrol consuming one.its equally important to conserve natural resources rit!
